You are Free from Condemnation

Everything we have today is because of who we are in Christ. We are united with Him; we are alive in Christ, dead to sin. Paul says in Romans 8:1, “There is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”

People have said, “Well, okay He died for the sins I already committed, but what about the sins I may commit tomorrow?”

When He died once for all, how many of your sins were future?

Now, no condemnation; imagine that. The next verse gives you the secret for all of this: “For the law of life that we have in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Those are the great enemies: sin and death. For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

Now you can’t do away with the law, and that’s why he uses the word there. So sin is still here, still appealing; physical death is still imminent. So how do we do away with the law. You can’t! You overcome it by a greater a law—which is the law of life in Christ Jesus!

Let me illustrate: can you fly (I mean in the flesh)? The answer is no. Why not? Gravity. I mean you can overcome it momentarily: you can jump up, but you will crash and burn and come down again. But you can fly in an airplane. Now if you don’t think the law of gravity is still in effect, flip the switch about 20,000 feet, and you will crash and burn. So as long as you live by faith according to what God says is true and the power of the Holy Spirit, you won’t carry out the desires of the flesh.

But all of this is under the concept that He has died once for all. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
