Prayer and Thanksgiving

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Psalm 95:2

There is only one way to approach God in prayer: with an attitude of gratitude. “The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6). “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 4:2). “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).

Thank Him for giving us life, for forgiveness, for freedom, for meant all our needs, for preparing a place for us in eternity. We glorify God by making ourselves known as Spirit-filled believers “giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).

It would be good to follow Paul’s example when we pray. “I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers” (Ephesians 1:16). “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you” (Philippians 1:3–4). “We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you” (Colossians 1:3). “We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers” (1 Thessalonians 1:2)
