A Reminder of God's Goodness
Sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in the busy-ness of life and lose focus on what God is doing. If you need a reminder as to how good our God is, take a moment to reflect on these 6 truths.
God reminded me this week in Psalm 139 of how incredibly awesome He is. Maybe this will help you as it as helped me!
Our God Is Personal! He cares about the details of our days. He knows us inside and out. He watches us as a loving Father. He listens to our cries and hurts. He holds us, protects us, and comforts us with His strong arms.
“O LORD, you have searched me and known me!” (Psalm 139:1 ESV)
Our God Goes with Us! We cannot run away from Him. We cannot escape the depths of His love. We cannot hide from His bright light. He gives us His Spirit. He stays close. He leads us. He gives us courage to press forward.
“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?” (Psalm 139:7)
Our God is marvelous! Who can create something from nothing? Only Him! Who makes all the amazing details of our body and the specifics of our future? He does! While we were still in our mother’s womb! He is so remarkably good and strong.
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.” (Psalm 139:13)
Our God talks! Does God have to communicate with us? No. But he chooses to. He wants to. He speaks. He hears. He listens. He shares. He opens up. He reveals Himself to us.
“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” (Psalm 139:17)
Our God defends! Human revenge is so tempting. Human anger is so appealing. But God’s vengeance is perfect in its timing and effect. God’s justice is incomparable. He will defend us. He will punish unrighteousness and evil. He will defend the holiness of His name.
“They speak against you with malicious intent; your enemies take your name in vain.” (Psalm 139:20)
Our God saves! Self-improvement is the cry of our culture. Self-salvation never works. Good deeds cannot repair the brokenness of sin or breathe life into dead souls. Only Jesus saves. Jesus alone gives life. Jesus resurrects our souls from eternal darkness to eternal light. Jesus deepens our love of Him. Jesus matures us to hate what He hates. Jesus leads us to an eternity of enjoying His awesomeness. Our God is Awesome!
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! …lead me in the way everlasting!" (Psalm 139:23-24)
