How to Make Your Community Thrive

But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
Jeremiah 29:7

When our community hurts, we hurt.  When our community thrives, we thrive. Let us seek together to improve our community! Here is a few suggestions of how we might do that together!

Invest. Sounds insignificant…but you are significant.  Every member of our community has a role to play.  You can make a difference, even if it seems small, it is significant. Care enough about our community to invest yourself in it. Take you gifts, talents, and passions and put them to work!

Smile. Sounds shallow…but smiles spread. Happiness and joy are contagious. Everyone is struggling with something on the inside. Let show from the outside what we hope to have on the inside!

Encourage. Sounds like flattery…but encouragement uplifts.  All of us have down days and discouraging moments. Look for what is right, rather than pointing out what is wrong.

Pray. Sounds routine…but prayer matters. Prayer is conversation with the Creator of the Universe. Do not underestimate God’s power to use it to change our own hearts and His world!

Love. Sounds cliche…but your actions, smiles, words, and prayers make a difference. We can help make our community grow in love, but we have to be intentionally selfless and others-focused…daily.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Jesus. He is the solution. He is hope. He is love. He is life. He is our community’s greatest need. Let’s share Him and His overwhelming, undeserved love!
