Overwhelming Evidence

Have you ever watched or followed a trial? What would happen if a judge ignored all of the evidence and just decided the verdict and punishment based on their feelings and opinions? That sort of judge would be unfair and wicked, betraying the standard of justice for which they are purposed.

So—what does the evidence of our life point to? Are our thoughts, feelings, decisions, and actions more self-focused or God-focused?  More often than naught, the evidence of our lives points to the fact that we all treasure and love ourselves more than we love God.

Consider the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:1-20): How many of God’s laws have you broken? Have you lied? Stolen? Taken something without permission? Lusted? Hated or been angry toward someone? Had selfish desires or prideful thoughts? The evidence of our sin against God’s law is overwhelming.

“the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.” (Romans 8:7 ESV)

God would be unjust to ignore the evidence of our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual rebellion against Him. Our God is so amazing that in spite of the evidence of our sin, provides a way for forgiveness through the sending of His Son Jesus. No matter how many times we have heard this news, we should be overwhelmed by the evidence of His love in Jesus.

The true reality of Jesus and His death, burial, and resurrection is the most evidenced event in all of human.

“You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
