How Should You Pray?
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Matthew 6:9-13
Have you ever wondered how you should pray? Let’s take a look at the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6 as we break it down into a simply acronym of how to pray: ACTS.
A: Adoration.
In the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6, it talks about “hallowed be your name.” There is a sense of praising, honoring, and glorifying who God is.
C: Confession
Confess your sin. “Father forgive us our debts as we forgive each other.” Be specific to your sin as you turn to God in your repentance.
T: Thanksgiving
Thank Him for His work. “You kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” There’s a thankfulness for His work in heaven and wanting it here in addition to being thankful for what He is doing here and now.
S: Supplication
Asking God for His supply of your needs. “Give us this day our daily bread.”
