Enjoy the Gift of Jesus

Great gifts are freely received and enjoyed. When you receive a gift, remembering that the gift of Christmas is the gift of Jesus, you realize: “I didn’t earn this; I don’t deserve this.” You can’t pay someone back for a gift. It’s to be freely received and freely enjoyed.

I love what Mary says after she has received the great news of Jesus from the angel Gabriel. She says this—she sings this—”My soul magnifies the Lord. My spirit rejoices in God my Savior. He has looked on my humble estate as His servant, and from now on all generations will call me blessed” (Luke 1:46–48).

If you are in Christ, you have received a gift you don’t deserve, and the proper response is to enjoy it and to magnify the name of the Lord. He has given us such a great gift in Jesus.
